April Winter Storm Bringing Big Snow and Blizzard To South Dakota
A strong spring Winter Storm is going to sweep through South Dakota bringing heavy snow and Blizzard Conditions. Here's what to know!
The National Weather Service in Sioux Falls has issued A BLIZZARD WARNING for a large portion of South Dakota.
Parts of the state will see just a few inches of snow while other parts could get up to 2 feet of accumulating snowfall.
Winds gusting as high as 60 mph can also be expected.
A BLIZZARD WARNING is in effect from 7 pm on Tuesday until 1 am Thursday for the counties of
- Spink
- Hyde
- Hand
- Lyman
- Buffalo
This includes the cities of Redfield, Highmore, Miller, and Kennebec.
Travel will be very difficult to impossible. Widespread blowing snow will significantly reduce visibility.
The hazardous conditions will impact the morning and evening commutes.
Very strong winds could cause extensive damage to trees and power lines.
