‘Heroes Behind The Badges’ Targets Sioux Falls Blood Donations
There's a friendly little competition going on in Sioux Falls at the moment, the 29th annual "Heroes Behind the Badges" blood drive kicked off on Friday, (December 20).
The annual competition pits Sioux Falls Fire Rescue against the Sioux Falls Police Department. The purpose of the event is to see who can raise the most blood donations for the community blood bank between now and Saturday, (January 4).
According to Dakota News Now, there's a nice incentive package for everyone who chooses to donate. Blood donors will receive an event t-shirt with either the Sioux Falls Police or Fire Rescue on it, a $15 Hy-Vee certificate offer, a free Texas Roadhouse appetizer, and two game tickets to the Sioux Falls Skyforce game.
The Sioux Falls PD and the Sioux Falls Fire Rescue crew always square off at this time of year with the goal of improving blood collections at our local hospitals throughout the holidays.
The act of giving blood only takes 30 minutes, and the gift you'll be giving could last a lifetime.
Several different blood donation events are planned all over the Sioux Falls area now through Saturday, (January 4). The donation times typically run between mid-morning to late afternoon.
