A lot of Minnesotans love their pets. In fact, a recent study showed that 54% of Minnesotans are pet owners. That means the other 46% aren't spending hundreds of dollars on their adopted cat's bad teeth. Or is that just me?

I got off track there for a minute.

No, these banned creatures aren't animals you'd keep as pets. But it is worth noting that it was important enough to let people know that if you encounter these things, you should let the Minnesota DNR know about it.

The Minnesota DNR recently (February 20, 2024) released this list of invasive species that are banned.

  • Jumping worms
  • Mitten crabs
  • Nile perch
  • Snakehead fish
  • Walking catfish
  • Tench
  • Golden mussel
  • Marbled crayfish
  • Golden clams
  • Tubenose gobies
  • Eastern mosquitofish

I can tell you this much, if a Tubenose Gobie, jumping worm, or mitten crab showed up in my universe, I'd be telling someone about it!
