So when's the last time you did something risky - not anything dangerous mind you - but when was the last time you stepped outside your comfort zone?

The reason I ask is it's National 'Go For Broke Day.' It's a day set aside each year to 'go for broke' - put it all on the line and take a chance.

I have to admit, for me, I can't remember the last time. Then again, I'm not one for taking big chances. I pretty much live my life playing it safe.

Is that a "good thing" or a "bad thing"? - who knows. I don't think there is a right or a wrong answer - it's just who I am.

I think it also depends on who you ask. Risk takers would probably label me as boring, whereas like-mined people like me would say we're "comfortable."

I do think it has a lot to do with what's important in your life. If wealth and material things are high on your list, then I think you're more apt to take a chance.

Whereas, if you're more about family and friends - like me - then I think risk taking isn't a high priority. I'm content with who and what I have.

Does that make me lazy? No. I do my job and do it to the best of my ability, but just because I'm happy with where I'm at in life doesn't make me lesser of a person.

I USED to be more of a risk taker. Before kids came along my dream was to make it to the "big time." Big city here I come!

But ask anyone who's had kids and they'll tell you that all your priorities change when that little bundle of joy enters the world.

So I didn't make it to the "big time" - so what. I've had a wonderful life up until this point and I wouldn't change anything for the world.

I also think after our son passed away in 2010 it re-focused my life even more. It was then that I realized what really mattered in life.

So, with today being 'Go For Broke Day,' if you feel the urge to take a chance do it. If not, that's okay too. For me, I choose to live my life one day at a time!
