A big piece of Las Vegas is coming to our area next year.

'Mr. Las Vegas' Wayne Newton is playing at Grand Falls Casino in Larchwood, Iowa for one night only, Saturday, May 9, 2020 at 8:00 PM.

The 77-year old has been entertaining audiences for more than seven decades, beginning with his own radio show when he was only six years old. By nine he had branched into television, and as a teenager he took Las Vegas by storm, playing six shows a night, six nights a week, at the Fremont Hotel in Downtown Las Vegas.

As a recording artist, he first landed on the Billboard Top 40 at age 21 with 'Danke Schoen', which landed at number-13 in 1963. Nine years later, Newton was in the Top Ten when 'Daddy Don't You Walk So Fast' landed as high as number-four in 1972.

He has also had a number of cameo appearances on the big screen in films like Vegas Vacation, The Hangover, Elvis Meets Nixon, and Smokin' Aces,

But Newton is best known for his long association with his adopted hometown.

Since his debut in Las Vegas in 1957, Newton has performed more than 25,000 shows in 'Sin City'. He's one of only two people to ever receive the city’s Medal of Honor. The main road leading to McCarran International Airport’s is named “Wayne Newton Boulevard.. He's also the state of Nevada's 'Ambassador of Goodwill'.

Tickets for the Grand Falls show are Tickets are $33, $43, and $53 and go on sale to the general public Friday, December 13, at 10:00 AM.
