WHAT WILL VOTER TURNOUT BE

Secretary of State Jason Gant expects about 70 percent of South Dakota's registered voters to cast ballots in the general election. That would be down slightly from the 73 percent voter turnout in the presidential election of 2008. If Gant's prediction for this year's election is accurate, about 369,000 votes will be cast by the time polls close Tuesday evening.
