3.) Hurricane Packs Powerful Punch to New Orleans: On the 16th anniversary of Katrina, New Orleans was dealt another blow - literally - from Hurricane Ida. The category 4 packed winds of 150 mph taking out power for the entire city leaving residents stranded on the rooftops waiting for rescue. This morning, the storm was moving into Mississippi but had been downgraded to a tropical depression. Louisiana Governor John Bel Edwards warns that the death toll from Hurricane Ida will "go up considerably throughout the day."
Meanwhile, The New Orleans Saints are planning to practice at the Dallas Cowboys' AT&T Stadium today, tomorrow, and Wednesday after evacuating from New Orleans
On a side note: Upon hearing the warnings, the residents of New Orleans did the smart thing and stocked up on stuff before the storm hit, emptying shelves at stores. Except ... they didn’t seem to want the Ruffles potato chips featuring basketballer Anthony Davis on the package. Davis, of course, forced his way out of New Orleans to go play with the Los Angeles Lakers. The fans in New Orleans apparently have not forgotten that.
