A little bit of a good news / eyebrow-raising news situation here, as Warner Bros. and DC Films are reportedly plotting a Supergirl movie (yay!) from the writer of The Cloverfield Paradox (hmm…). It’s still early days, however, and given the number of writers typically involved in your average blockbuster, it seems likely that this iteration of the script will be one of many.
The initial reports regarding the upcoming Joker origin movie from writer / director Todd Phillips noted that the project was loosely inspired by the Martin Scorsese classic King of Comedy — so it makes sense that Scorsese himself was persuaded to executive produce Joker. According to a new report, that King of Comedy connection is getting a little more obvious, as Robert De Niro is officially in talks to join Joaquin Phoenix in the DC standalone film.
With the final 'Hobbit' film hitting theaters later this year, Warner Bros. is looking for their next big fantasy franchise to fill the void.
