Right in the heart of Sioux Falls, there is a place in Falls Park that you might not have visited yet. The Stockyards Ag Experience is located in a restored19th-century horse barn. It honors the 92-year history of the Sioux Falls Stockyards (1917-2009) and strives to celebrate the agricultural industry as a whole.

This awesome free museum educates visitors about agriculture through interactive, hands-on exhibits, 360-degree videos, and a farm-to-table display.

The Stockyards Ag Experience is currently evolving into a world-class ag experience with the addition of the Woster Plaza. It is working with the City of Sioux Falls, as the city hammers out its master plan for Falls Park.

The goal is to create a place where:

  • out-of-town visitors can learn more about the importance of agriculture to our region and get a glimpse of what farm life looks like;
  • ag producers can see their work discussed and explored in a vibrant and engaging way;
  • local residents can connect with local producers who grow their food;
  • schools and childcare centers can provide field trips that supplement their classroom learning.

To support the creation of this expanded space, Stockyards Ag Experience is throwing a celebration called the "Stockyards Soiree". It is coming up on Thursday, February 12 at 5:30 PM in the Meadow Barn at Country Orchards, at 1690 Willow Street West, in Harrisburg.
