Day one of the South Dakota High School Football Championships in Brookings began with the Class 9-A matchup between Britton-Hecla and Canistota-Freeman and what a close game through much of the contest as quarterback Trey Ortman racks up 269 yards in offense for the 46-34 win.

Moving on to the Class 9-AA game with Viborg-Hurley and Bon Homme it was another exciting contest to watch and big yardage by the Cougars junior quarterback Chase Mason had an impressive day with 416 years and six touchdowns in the 50-24 win.

Game-3 for the Class 9-B title it was undefeated Coleman-Egan facing Herried-Selby and the Hawks would win their second state championship 58-6.

Finally, it was time for the Class 11-A game under the lights. The Canton C-Hawks moving up from Class 11-B put on a show at Dana Dykhouse Stadium win 46-8 over Lennox.

  • Class 11-AAA Brandon Valley vs Sioux Falls O'Gorman, 7:00 PM
