The South Dakota Amateur Hockey Association (SDAHA) Girls Varsity Tournament will be held from March 3-5, 2023, at the SCHEELS IcePlex in Sioux Falls, hosted by the Sioux Falls Flyers Youth Hockey Association (SFYHA).

The "Face Off at the Falls"  will feature eight varsity teams competing for the girl's state hockey title. Over the course of the three-day tournament, players, families, fans, and officials will occupy more than 200 hotel rooms and enjoy various fun activities here in Sioux Falls.

Sam Everson, President of the SFYHA, said that hosting the tournament takes a lot of time and effort but is so worth it due to the benefits to youth hockey in our area.

Four games will be played on Friday, March 3 with the first game beginning at 9:00 AM. After the final Friday game is played at 4:30 PM, an awards ceremony will take place at the Sioux Falls Convention Center Exhibit Hall 2 beginning at 8:00 PM.

Players will be introduced, and academic awards, all-state teams, and League Champions will be announced, The “Fight Like a Ninja” Scholarship, Hobey Baker Character Awards, Lori Simpson Sportsmanship Award, and the Coach of the Year will be presented, The evening will include guest speaker, journalist Angela Kennecke.

Tournament play will resume on Saturday, March 4, at 11:30 AM, with six teams advancing to Championship Sunday.

On Sunday, March 5, three games will be played, starting with the consolation game at 9:00 AM, followed by the third-place game at noon, and the 2023 SDAHA Girls Varsity Championship game at 3:00 PM.
