Gas prices across South Dakota are continuing their sharp upward trend, putting added pressure on households and businesses alike.

Over the past several weeks, drivers have seen steady increases at the pump, with prices climbing well above seasonal averages.

The National Average for gas is around $4.12 a gallon.

The price spike comes as many South Dakotans are preparing for spring and summer travel, making the timing especially challenging.

Current South Dakota Statewide Averages according to AAA...

  • Regular: $3.677
  • Mid-Grade: $3.819
  • Premium: $4.358
  • Diesel: $4.863

Daily commuters and commercial drivers are feeling the impact most, as higher fuel costs quickly add up.

In some areas, prices have jumped by several cents per gallon in just a matter of days, with no immediate relief in sight.

Regional and national trends are also playing a role. Fluctuations in global oil markets, refinery maintenance, and distribution challenges in the Midwest have all contributed to the current situation.
