The 2025 South Dakota Chislic Festival is an annual event held in Freeman. 

Running from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., this festival honors the beloved chislic tradition and the German-from-Russia heritage that brought it to our region.

What is Chislic?

Discover South Dakota's signature dish featuring traditional lamb or mutton, plus creative variations with other meats.

Vendors will serve up authentic chislic alongside delicious sides, desserts, and refreshing beverages.
