If you've driven through eastern Sioux Falls lately, you've probably asked yourself the same question many local motorists are wondering: Will Veterans Parkway construction ever be finished?

The good news is that progress continues on one of the largest road projects in the Sioux Falls area, although drivers will need a little more patience before the work is completely wrapped up.

Construction has now begun on the west side of the project along Arrowhead Parkway between Highline Avenue and Veterans Parkway.

According to the City Of Sioux Falls, Crews are currently removing pavement and preparing for the next phases of work, which include underground utility installation, construction of a pedestrian underpass, and retaining wall work.

Meanwhile, work continues east of Veterans Parkway on Arrowhead Parkway, where crews are building sidewalks, installing medians, and completing final restoration efforts.

Drivers should be aware that Arrowhead Parkway is closed from Veterans Parkway west to Highline Avenue until late fall.

The section east of Veterans Parkway to 10th Street remains open to traffic. Veterans Parkway itself will stay open throughout the project, helping minimize disruptions for commuters.

Even after the major construction wraps up, motorists may still encounter periodic lane closures during the spring of 2027 while crews complete final cleanup and finishing touches.

So when will it finally be done?

According to the latest project information, the anticipated completion date is May 14, 2027.

The massive project carries a price tag of more than $39.2 million, making it one of the most significant transportation investments currently underway in Sioux Falls.
