For twenty-eight games last season, Jarnell Stokes was very good for the Sioux Falls Skyforce. The athletic forward will get the final four games this season to put his talent on display.

It’s been a winding road for the 6-9 power forward since winning the D-League MVP award and leading the ‘Force to a championship a year ago. Stokes was invited to Denver’s training camp and made the Nuggets’ opening day roster.

Early in the season, Stokes suffered a foot injury after appearing in only two games in the Rocky Mountains. Denver waived Stokes on November 15.

When with the Skyforce last season, Stokes averaged 20.6 points and 9.3 rebounds in 30 minutes per contest in their record setting 40-10 regular season. For the postseason, Stokes was the Finals MVP as the team captured the title in three games over the Los Angeles D-Fenders.

Stokes along with DeAndre Liggins and Rodney McGruder were three members of last year’s team to secure a spot in the Association on opening day. The Skyforce currently have six players from last year’s title team on their roster. Joining Stokes are Greg Whittington, Larry Drew II, Bubu Palo, Jabril Trawick and Keith Benson. With the addition of Stokes, Johan Petro was released to make room on the roster.
