Sioux Falls To Get A Fresh Dose Of Art This Weekend
Downtown Sioux Falls is about to get a fresh new look starting this weekend. And the next time you spend any time strolling Phillips Avenue, grabbing coffee near the Washington Pavilion, or heading into the Steel District, you’re going to notice the changes right away.
The 2026 SculptureWalk Sioux Falls installation is happening May 1 and 2, bringing more than 80 brand-new pieces of public art to the heart of Sioux Falls. Crews will be swapping out last year’s sculptures for a new lineup that will line Phillips Avenue and other high-traffic areas throughout downtown Sioux Falls for the next year.
If you’ve lived in the Sioux Empire for any length of time, you already know SculptureWalk has become a part of the city’s identity. Now in its 23rd year, it has turned everyday walks between local favorites like Coffea, Parker’s Bistro, and Falls Park into a rotating outdoor art gallery.

In addition to all the new art debuting this weekend, there is also a new event being rolled out. On Sunday, May 3, Sioux Falls residents will have a chance to go beyond just admiring the art, as they take part in “Sculpture Talks”, which will be held from 2:00 to 3:00 PM at the MarketBeat Theater inside StartUp Sioux Falls. It’s an opportunity to meet the artists, hear the stories behind the sculptures, and get a deeper understanding of what inspired the work you’ll be seeing downtown.
According to Dakota News Now, the featured artists scheduled to appear include Luke Achterberg, Nathan Johansen, and Sunghee Min, all of whom will have pieces displayed in this year’s exhibit.
SculptureWalk Board Chair Andrew Eitreim, told Dakota News Now, "This annual outdoor gallery is more than an art display; it’s a celebration of imagination, community, and connection. We’re proud to make world-class art accessible to everyone. Each sculpture offers a new perspective and a reason to explore.”
