When a witness saw a man punching a woman on Wednesday, the Sioux Falls Police Department responded to the report and made an arrest.

"When officers arrived on scene, [the suspect] took off running," according to Sioux Falls Police Department Information Officer Sam Clemens.

"He was trying to hide. Police ended up finding him about a block away hiding inside a garage. The owner went out and found the garage was locked. The woman told police the garage is normally unlocked. They heard some noises coming from inside and ended up finding this guy."

Clemens says the man faces a number of charges.

"He was arrested for burglary, obstruction, fleeing police, simple assault domestic and also had warrants."

Clemens identified the suspect as 27-year-old Daniel Dien Jr. of Sioux Falls.

The woman was not injured.
