You may have heard some talk recently about Sioux Falls area animal shelters bursting at the seams with furry friends looking for forever homes.

The Sioux Falls Humane Society even had to stop accepting new dogs for a while because they were officially at max capacity. They were packed in tighter out at the facility than a dog park on a Saturday afternoon.

Fortunately, things have taken a paws-itive turn.

With so many big sweeties waiting patiently for a loving human to call their own, a couple of pet food companies have stepped up in a big way. Dakota News Now reports that Roxi & Co. and NutriSource Pet Foods have teamed up to donate a whopping 6,541 bags of dog food, valued at over $92,000!

An incredible gesture on the part of both companies!

This massive donation will be shared among four local rescue organizations: the Sioux Falls Humane Society, Rescue Network, Sioux Empire Pit Network, and Dakota Dachshund Rescue. Chances are, if you’ve got paws and a nose, there’s a good chance you’re getting fed.

The story behind the donation is just as heartwarming. According to Dakota News Now, Roxi & Co., a locally owned Sioux Falls pet business, reached out to their friends at NutriSource, based in Minnesota, and together they made magic happen.

NutriSource has a long history of supporting small businesses and animal rescues, and this latest act of kindness is just another example of their big-hearted mission.

All this dog chow will immediately be heading to the dog bowls of these hungry hounds, thanks to these two generous companies.

The only thing these shelter dogs need now is a couch to hog and a human to love.
