Now that Labor Day is in our rearview mirror, Fall really feels like it's right around the corner.

Some clear indicators that Fall is quickly approaching are when the stores fill up with Halloween decorations, the leaves start to turn, coffee shops start making a multitude of drinks with pumpkin spice, college, and pro football kicks off, and fall festivals and apple-picking season get underway.

And in case you haven't been paying attention, all those things are starting to fall like dominoes, so it must be time to say adios to summer again.

Fall officially arrives in less than three weeks, and the historic Country Apple Orchard in Harrisburg is preparing for the autumn season by kicking off its weekly Fall Festivals from now through October.

For over the last 40 years, the Country Apple Orchard has been holding their traditional fall festivals every Friday through Sunday in September and October.

General manager Amber Halvorson, told Dakota News Now, "We’ve got apple picking going on. Tractor rides out to the orchard, we’ve got the fall festival in full force right now, everything’s open. We’ve got over 20 attractions so there’s lots of stuff going on. Opening weekend is always exciting for us and we just love seeing families back out.”

Halvorson says 2024 has been a good year for growing apples, so there'll be plenty of varieties to choose from when you and your family come out this season.

What can you expect to see?

A corn maze, a funny farm petting zoo, kiddie train rides, grain cart basketball, tractor rides, a Ferris Wheel, food trucks, and a Fall Festival Beer Garden are just some of the things you'll find when you stop out at the Fall Festivals at the Country Apple Orchard on South Dakota Highway 115 near Harrisburg.

The Fall Festival is open to the public every Friday from 4:00 to 8:00 PM, Saturday from 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM, and Sunday from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM.

Season passes can be purchased online.
