Construction activity in Sioux Falls is set to impact traffic along a key Cliff Avenue corridor beginning Friday, April 17, 2026.

As part of the 20th Street Reconstruction Project, South Cliff Avenue will be reduced to one lane in each direction at 20th Street.

This temporary change is necessary for underground utility work and is expected to remain in place until late May.

In addition, 20th Street will be limited to one-way westbound traffic between Cliff Avenue and Ninth Avenue starting the same day.

This restriction will allow crews to safely reconstruct the roadway and is anticipated to continue through late summer.

Despite the changes, access to all nearby parking ramps will remain open throughout construction.

The project includes a range of improvements such as upgraded underground utilities, new concrete road surfaces, enhanced sidewalks, and updated street lighting.

Motorists can reach Seventh Avenue using 17th or 26th Street.

The overall project is expected to be completed by early November.

Drivers are encouraged to slow down, stay alert in work zones, and consider alternate routes when traveling nearby.
