Longtime Parade Volunteer Named 2025 Sioux Falls St. Patrick's Day Parade Grand Marshal.

Shawn Cleary, who served 16 years on the Sioux Falls St. Patrick's Day Parade Extravaganza Committee including 10 as chair, will lead the 2025 parade as grand marshal on Saturday, March 15.

A Cathedral of St. Joseph member and active community leader, Cleary moved to Sioux Falls in 1998.

He recently retired as President of SMC Corporation and Tiger Mowers at Alamo Group after a 23-year career.

This year's parade will support St. Francis House, a local homeless shelter, through button sale proceeds.

Schedule for the Sioux Falls St. Patrick's Day Parade On March 15:

  • 11 a.m.: Shamrock painting ceremony at First National Bank (9th St. & Phillips Ave.)
  • 2 p.m.: Parade begins at Phillips Ave. & 13th St., ends near 2nd St.

Street closures:

  • Phillips Ave. between 9th-10th St.: 10:45 a.m.
  • Parade route streets: 1:30 p.m.
  • Staging begins at 12:30 p.m. on Main and Dakota Ave. between 11th and 13th St.
  • Phillips Ave. parking is restricted late morning

If you are visiting or new to Sioux Falls and trying to find your way around, chances are you really don't need to pronounce street names correctly. All you have to do is enter your destination into Google Maps and your phone will show you the way.

But what if you are trying to tell someone where your cool friend or family member lives in our fine city? Some of our streets and avenues have tricky spellings that may throw visitors for a loop when trying to sound them out.

No one is going to mess up on the big thoroughfares like Minnesota Avenue, Western Avenue, or Louise Avenue but what about these?
