The National Weather Service has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Watch for parts of eastern South Dakota along and north of I-90. This watch includes Sioux Falls. The watch is in effect from 10:25 AM until 3:00 PM.

This is in addition to the Heat Advisory in effect Wednesday afternoon.

The NWS Storm Prediction Center has issued a

   * Severe Thunderstorm Watch for portions of 
     Eastern South Dakota

   * Effective this Wednesday morning and afternoon from 1025 AM
     until 300 PM CDT.

   * Primary threats include...
     Scattered large hail likely with isolated very large hail events
       to 2 inches in diameter possible
     Scattered damaging wind gusts to 70 mph likely

   SUMMARY...Line of thunderstorms over central SD is likely to
   continue tracking eastward across the watch area, posing a risk of
   damaging wind gusts and large hail.

   The severe thunderstorm watch area is approximately along and 50
   statute miles north and south of a line from 75 miles west northwest
   of Huron SD to 20 miles east northeast of Brookings SD. For a

   PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

   REMEMBER...A Severe Thunderstorm Watch means conditions are
   favorable for severe thunderstorms in and close to the watch area.
   Persons in these areas should be on the lookout for threatening
   weather conditions and listen for later statements and possible
   warnings. Severe thunderstorms can and occasionally do produce
   tornadoes.
