Sam’s Club Membership Fees Set To Increase This May in South Dakota
Here's another shocker! If it feels like everything in your monthly budget keeps creeping upward, you’re not imagining things. From groceries to gas to that cup of coffee you grab on the way to work, prices seem to have been climbing for what feels like forever.
Now hardworking South Dakota families can add one more everyday expense to the list, this time it's the price of your Sam’s Club membership.
According to Dakota News Now, Sam’s Club will be increasing the price of its annual memberships starting May 1. The basic membership will jump by $10, moving from $50 a year to $60. Meanwhile, the Sam’s Plus membership, the tier many families use for the extra perks, will rise to $120 annually.

If you’re a regular giant shopping cart shopper at the Sam’s Club on South Louise Avenue here in Sioux Falls, you’ve probably already seen the email notification about the change pop up in your inbox. For a lot of local families, Sam’s Club is a go-to stop for bulk groceries, household essentials, and the occasional impulse buy of a 48-pack of something you didn’t realize you needed until you saw it.
There is a silver lining for Sam's Plus members. With the price increase comes an opportunity to earn more in cash rewards, which could help offset some of the added cost if you’re a frequent shopper.
And if you’re looking for a little perspective, Sam’s Club is still slightly cheaper than its main competitor. Costco currently charges $65 a year for its basic membership, while its Executive membership costs $130 annually.

This latest increase also isn’t completely out of the blue. The last time Sam’s Club raised its membership fees was back in 2022.
Still, it’s one more reminder that in 2026, even the price of saving money in bulk isn’t immune from going up.
