Samuel L. Jackson won’t be appearing in Captain America: Civil War, and with only two films left in his Marvel contract, we’ve been wondering when we might see Nick Fury again. We may have an answer, as a new report suggests that Jackson has a role in Thor: Ragnrok, which is filming in Australia at the same studio where the actor recently filmed scenes for Kong: Skull Island with his Marvel co-star Tom Hiddleston.

The news comes from local Aussie outlet Gold Coast Bulletin (via CBM), which reports that pre-production on Thor: Ragnarok has begun this week and that the film will shoot at the Village Roadshow Studios in Queensland, where parts of Kong: Skull Island were recently shot. The paper says that Jackson has been “tipped” to return as Nick Fury for the Thor sequel, which is being directed by Taika Waititi (What We Do in the Shadows).

Chris Hemsworth and Tom Hiddleston are returning to reprise their roles as Thor and Loki, respectively, while Marvel’s Kevin Feige has said that Ragnarok will take place primarily in space and will spend very little time on Earth. Mark Ruffalo’s Hulk will also appear in the film, which the actor has described as a buddy road trip movie in the vein of Midnight Run.

Jackson’s Nick Fury last appeared in Avengers: Age of Ultron, where he informed Scarlett Johansson’s Black Widow of the Hulk’s mysterious disappearance in the Avengers’ Quinjet. The Quinjet reappeared at the heroes’ base in Ant-Man, which raised questions about its reappearance and the whereabouts of Hulk.

The report is unconfirmed, but Jackson’s participation in Thor: Ragnarok isn’t out of the realm of possibility — though it is interesting given that he only has two Marvel films left on his contract (which may very well change).

Cate Blanchett remains in talks to play a new villain in the film, with rumors suggesting that she may be taking on the role of Hela and teaming up with Loki to cause some serious mischief.

Thor: Ragnarok hits theaters on November 3, 2017.
