The all-day soaking rain in Sioux Falls on Monday was a record-breaker. As of 10 pm the National Weather Service had recorded 2.16 inches of rain on October 14. The mark bests the previous record of 1.04 inches which was set on that date in 1966.

The record was broken by 2 pm in an all-day event that started early Monday morning. It’s also the rainiest day of 2013 in Sioux Falls. The previous 24 hour high moisture total was 1.97 inches on May 25. Sioux Falls was not the only city racking up the rainfall. Sioux City, Huron and Mitchell all set records with marks over two inches and Yankton had over three inches of rain on Monday according to the National Weather Service.
