Lots of road construction projects are beginning this week all around Sioux Falls, creating significant traffic impacts across the city.

Drivers should plan extra time and consider alternate routes.

Key Closures Starting September 22:

Spring Avenue & 21st Street - Both streets closed through Friday for utility and paving work by Soukup Construction. Spring Avenue closed between 21st-22nd Streets, while 21st Street is blocked from Spring to Minnesota Avenue.

Rice Street - Complete closure between Cleveland Avenue and Veterans Parkway for three weeks of milling and overlay work. Through traffic to Brandon should detour via 60th Street North using

Veterans Parkway and Cliff Avenue.

North Drive Bridge - Closed until late October for repairs near the State Penitentiary. Motorists should use North Minnesota Avenue, East Benson Road, and North Fourth Avenue as detours.

Lane Reductions:

  • 11th Street - North outside lane closed between Minnesota and Dakota Avenues through Wednesday
  • 26th Street - Westbound outside lane closed between Marion Road and Sioux K Court through early November
  • Veterans Parkway - Northbound traffic reduced to one lane from Madison to Paddington Streets for bike trail paving

Additional Projects:

  • Reid Place closed south of Sixth Street for concrete repairs (one week)
  • 72nd Street North closes Thursday between Seubert Avenue and 476th Avenue through late November
  • Arrowhead Park trail repairs begin with northern parking lot closure
