
Sioux Falls ‘Night Out’ Block Party Blitz Unites Neighborhoods
National Night Out is a yearly celebration that brings communities together to strengthen the bond between residents and law enforcement. This nationwide event On Thursday, August 6, 2024, fosters a spirit of cooperation and mutual understanding, between millions of neighbors, creating safer and more connected neighborhoods.
By encouraging face-to-face interactions and shared experiences, National Night Out helps build trust, enhance communication, and promotes a sense of responsibility for community well-being.
It's an opportunity for neighbors to get to know each other and their local police officers and other first responders, in a positive, relaxed setting.
There will be celebrations going on all over the Sioux Falls area and these are just a few of them:
- National Night Out Neighborhood Pie and Ice Cream Party from 5:30 to 7:30 PM at St Mark's Lutheran Church at 2001 S. Elmwood. There will be pie and ice cream, a bouncy house, fire engines, community officers will stop by and there will be a performance by a traditional Latin dance group.
- Harrisburg's National Night Out event will be at Hugh Robinson Park at 203 Prairie Street from 6 to 8 PM. You'll be able to meet professionals from the Lincoln County Sheriff's Office, Harrisburg Community Fire Department, South Dakota Highway Patrol, and Game, Fish & Parks Outdoor Campus - Sioux Falls. Enjoy food trucks, music, inflatables, hatchet throwing, a raffle, door prizes, and various other activities for all ages and abilities.
- Another National Night Out neighborhood gathering is going on at Tuthill Park from 5:30 to 7:30 PM with food trucks and fun, plus entertainment from the Lincoln High School Drumline.
- Also, the Good Samaritan Society-Prairie Creek at 4400 Creekside Drive is hosting a National Night Out event from 6 to 8 PM featuring a concert by The Crabgrass Crew. The concert begins at 7 PM. You're invited to bring out a lawn chair and enjoy a cool treat from the SDSU Ice Cream Truck.
