Trump To Visit South Dakota July 3rd For Big 250th Birthday Bash
America’s 250th birthday is almost here, and South Dakota is going to be right in the middle of the celebration.
On July 4, 2026, the United States will mark its 250th year of existence, and the Black Hills will once again be in the national spotlight. Mount Rushmore is expected to draw huge attention over Independence Day weekend, especially with a major event planned the night before.
According to reports, President Donald Trump is scheduled to visit South Dakota on Thursday, July 3, to attend a special fireworks display at Mount Rushmore hosted by the National Park Service. With that kind of high-profile appearance, officials are preparing for massive crowds in the area.

If you were thinking about heading out to the memorial that night, here's an important heads-up: Mount Rushmore will be closed to the general public starting July 2. Access on July 3 will be limited strictly to those who secured tickets in advance.
And if you missed out, I'm sorry to say, you're out of luck. Tickets were distributed through a lottery that closed back on April 12, and they’re now completely gone and non-transferable.
However, that doesn’t mean you have to miss out on the fun, though. The memorial will reopen to the public on July 4, giving visitors another chance to take in one of South Dakota’s most iconic landmarks during a historic weekend.
Also, the night of the Mount Rushmore event on July 3, Rapid City plans to host a "Real America Birthday Bash" on Main Street Square, offering a lively alternative with a community viewing party atmosphere.
There’s also some added intrigue surrounding the visit. ABC News reports that Trump's trip to South Dakota could potentially double as the inaugural flight of a newly retrofitted Air Force One aircraft. While nothing has been officially confirmed, the timing has sparked speculation that South Dakota could play host to yet another historic moment.
