Lane Closure Construction Coming For Minnesota Ave. In Sioux Falls
Drivers in Sioux Falls should prepare for a temporary lane closure along Minnesota Avenue as construction crews complete utility work in the area.
According to the City of Sioux Falls, the construction will begin at 9 a.m. on Thursday, April 9, 2026. Northbound traffic on Minnesota Avenue between Eighth Street and Second Street will be detoured.
The closure is necessary to allow crews to safely complete a sanitary sewer connection at Fourth Street.
During this time, motorists traveling northbound will be rerouted along a marked detour that includes Eighth Street, Dakota Avenue, Sixth Street, Main Avenue, and Brookings Street.
Southbound traffic on Minnesota Avenue will remain open and unaffected throughout the duration of the project, helping to minimize overall disruption in the area.
The work is expected to be completed by the end of the day on Thursday, weather permitting and barring any unforeseen delays.
Once construction is finished, normal traffic flow will resume.
City officials encourage drivers to remain alert, reduce speeds, and use caution when traveling near the construction zone to ensure the safety of both workers and fellow motorists.
Those looking to avoid potential delays may wish to plan ahead and utilize alternate routes during the closure.
