Recall Alert: Over 1 Million Jeep Vehicles Recalled Over Fire

If you own a newer Jeep, you'll want to pay close attention to a major new safety recall.

Approximately 1.07 million Jeep vehicles in the United States because of a potential fire hazard involving the electric-hydraulic power steering system.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, an electrical connection in the power steering pump wiring can overheat, increasing the risk of a fire, even when the vehicle is parked and the ignition is turned off.

The recall affects the following model years:
• 2021-2025 Jeep Wrangler
• 2021-2025 Jeep Wrangler 4xe
• 2021-2025 Jeep Gladiator

Out of an abundance of caution, owners are being urged to park their vehicles outside and away from homes, garages, and other structures until the necessary repairs have been completed.

While vehicle fires are considered uncommon, officials say taking this precaution can help reduce the risk of property damage or injury.

Jeep dealerships will inspect the affected vehicles and replace the necessary components at no cost to owners.

Notification letters are expected to begin mailing in July, but owners don't have to wait. They can check whether their vehicle is included in the recall by searching their Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) on the NHTSA recall website or by contacting their local Jeep dealer.

If your Jeep is part of this recall, it's a good idea to schedule the free repair as soon as it becomes available and follow the temporary parking guidance until the issue has been addressed.
