This event really does have something for the whole family to enjoy from jaw-dropping extreme action barrel racing, to the Northern Bull Riding Tour, not to mention the Mutton Busting!

Yup, any future cowboy or cowgirl from 4 to 8 years old can sign up for the "toughest sport on wool!" They'll draw 10 names and those kids get to vie for the McCrossan's Extreme Mutton Busting title. We hear that every year, it's pretty wild & woolly!

The McCrossan's Xtreme Event Challenge Rodeo is coming to the McCrossan's Boys Ranch campus on 260th Street, Sioux Falls, on Saturday, August 26th.

Along with all the action in the ring, they'll have concessions to keep the hungries and the thirsties at bay. Plus, there will be live music from the Cardboard Saints and comedy from professional rodeo clown Tiny Tim.

  • 5:30 - Rodeo show begins

Tickets are available online, at Haegles Western Store (2800 West 41st Street), and the McCrossan Visitor Center. Tickets are $15 in advance and $16 at the gate for adults and $5 for youth in advance and $8 at the gate (3 and under free).

Returning from a weekend trip to Rapid City, South Dakota for state basketball tournaments we decided to visit the Badlands National Park.

A quick turn-off I-90 will take you into some of the most awe-inspiring scenery.

It's also fun to note that several big-screen movies were filmed in the Badlands. Dances With Wolves, Starship Troopers, Armageddon, and most recently, Academy Award winner, Nomadland.

It's a spectacular park with tons to do. If you're setting out on a hike, bring lots of water and sign the hikers' logs at the trailheads. It could save your life. It's a tough place to survive.
