While it’s true we’re rapidly approaching the 18th green of this year’s golfing season in the Sioux Empire, one course is proving that great things can happen even in the late rounds.

The brand-new Mapleton Golf Course, a private country club just north of Sioux Falls, has managed to hit a hole-in-one with members in record time.

Teed up on Labor Day, Mapleton has already drawn rave reviews from golfers who can’t get enough of the rolling hills, lush greens, and a layout that’s equal parts challenge and charm. The course sits along Slip Up Creek Road, though based on early buzz, it’s safe to say nobody’s slipping up here.

Needless to say, members and their guests have been very impressed by this new course so far.

Mapleton Founder Danny Amundson shared his excitement with Dakota News Now, saying, “It was instantaneous. We went from nobody allowed out here to opening day, and suddenly, there were people in carts, on the course, and loving it. Seeing everyone enjoying the place and coming back day after day really confirmed that this was much needed around here.”

So, What’s Mapleton Like?

In short, it’s a golfer’s dream come true.

Mapleton features bent-grass fairways, natural fescue-edged bunkers, and a hilly, prairie-style layout that makes the most of the natural terrain and the picturesque beauty of Slip Up Creek.

This 18-hole championship course also offers top-notch amenities, including a driving range and practice facilities, a 6-hole short course for quick rounds, a clubhouse with locker rooms, a golf shop, a members’ lounge, and an outdoor patio,  private meeting rooms for those who like to mix business with birdies, 12 King Suite Member Lodging Accommodations for overnight stays, and a fine dining restaurant, because every good round deserves a great meal, right?

5 Things South Dakota Gave the World

South Dakota may not get much respect. We get a blizzard and it's a footnote on the national scene, but if Florida gets a bit chilly it's breaking news. But, maybe it's fine to be forgotten about. We kind of like being left alone on our quiet piece of the plains.

South Dakota has given a lot to the world though. Not just giant mountain carvings and settings for HBO shows, but awesome things that the rest of the world should thank us for.
