Major Winter Snow Storm Headed For Parts Of South Dakota
A serious winter storm is headed into parts of South Dakota over the weekend that could bring over 18 inches of snow and strong gusty winds.
A significant weather event for the Black Hills region of both South Dakota and Wyoming is forecast to start early Saturday morning around 5 AM and last through Monday afternoon at 5 PM.
According to the National Weather Service, A WINTER STORM WARNING is in effect from 5 am Saturday through 5 pm Monday for the Northern Black Hills of South Dakota and Wyoming.
Heavy snow is expected. Total snow accumulations between 8 and 18 inches with locally higher amounts.
Winds will be gusting as high as 40mph creating areas of blowing snow.
Roads and especially bridges and overpasses will likely become slick and hazardous.
Travel could be very difficult to impossible.
