Louis Tomlinson Helped an 83-Year-Old Man Fulfill His Bucket List and We Can’t Stop Crying Happy Tears
Just in case you needed some more proof that Louis Tomlinson is a stand up guy, he shared a video on Wednesday (April 24) that will absolutely make your heart melt (you'll probably shed a few tears, too).
"A month or so ago I met an amazing man called Richard. He had a few things he wanted to do so I thought I'd help him out," he shared on Instagram. "This video feels particularly relevant and powerful to me."
"Richard is a classic example of a fearless man who in light of tragedy still pushes himself to live with as much laughter and happiness as possible," he continued before leading fans to watch the clip through a link in his bio.
The former One Direction star met Richard while visiting Yorkshire, UK. The 83-year-old had lost his wife Pat to Alzheimer's in 2016, the same year Louis lost his mom to cancer. He caught wind that the elderly man had a bucket list and wanted to help him tick off a few boxes. During the course of two days, the pair flew helicopters, drove race cars, rode roller coasters — Richard even gave Louis a tattoo — but the real heartwarming moment came when the singer invited his new friend to one of his concerts. Richard had mentioned being a singer himself, so Louis let him serenade the audience. Like he exclaimed in the video, Richard absolutely smashed it!
"It's been a good time with you Louis," Richard told the singer after their adventures. "It's been lovely," Louis agreed. "No bulls--t. Actually spending real time with you and feeling like we've gotten to know each other. It's been really nice."
Louis titled the video "Two of Us," the same name given to the song he recently wrote about his mother. The emotional song soundtracked the clip. In an effort to pay it forward, the English pop star included links to donate to the Alzheimer's Society, Cancer Research UK and Bluebell Wood Children's Hospice in the YouTube description. In addition to losing his mother, Louis' sister Félicité tragically passed away at the age of 18 last month. He broke his silence about her death just last week.
