Drivers traveling on South Cliff Avenue in Sioux Falls should be prepared for a temporary lane closure.

Beginning Wednesday, September 30th at 9:00 a.m., the outside southbound lane of South Cliff Avenue will be closed between 16th Street and 17th Street.

The closure is needed while City of Sioux Falls Water Maintenance crews make repairs to a water main in the area.

The work is expected to be completed later Wednesday, with traffic control scheduled to be removed by the end of the day, weather and construction conditions permitting.

While the closure is in place, motorists traveling through the area should slow down, remain alert and watch for construction crews and changing traffic conditions. Drivers may also want to consider using an alternate route to avoid potential delays.

Although the work is expected to be completed within the day, drivers should allow extra time if Cliff Avenue is part of their commute.

Motorists are reminded to follow all posted signs and traffic-control devices while traveling through the work zone. Giving crews plenty of room and reducing speeds can help keep both workers and drivers safe.

If you're planning to travel on South Cliff Avenue Wednesday afternoon, be aware that the outside southbound lane between 16th and 17th streets may remain affected until the water main repair is finished and traffic control is removed.
