Crab Found Snapping Snacks In Iowa Vending Machine
Imagine being hungry, just wanting a snack, and paying no attention to what's in the vending machine.
When you think of a vending machine, you think of sugary or salty snacks like bags of chips or candy bars. Prices on vending machine snacks have gone way up over the years, but that's a different story.
If you hear the phrase "there's crabs in the vending machine", you may think of China's idea, which is literally that.
If you are in landlocked, nowhere-near-the-beach Iowa, you don't think of crabs in a vending machine.
Well, friend, surprise.
KTIV reports that in Sioux City, a Pepsi worker, Soho Mesa, was doing his job at a vending machine in the Frances Building, which is downtown. Maintenance at the building had called them for help because originally, they thought it was a mouse in the machine. But actually, a crab was in the vending machine snapping at people. And lo and behold:
By the time Mesa got there, the crab was dead so Mesa disposed of it's body.
This Is The Second Time Lately A Crab Has Been In Sioux City
Strangely, this isn't the first time a crab has been spotted in downtown Sioux City within the last week. At Sioux City Public Library, staff found a Chesapeake blue crab (they named "Chester") in their computer lab on the second floor.
The crab was found Tuesday and died on Thursday.
The library and the Frances building are connected to each other via a skywalk.
Maybe the crabs just really like Sun Chips? Or needed to Google something on the library's computers? Either way, officials have no idea why these two crabs popped up in downtown Sioux City.
