There's exciting news coming from high atop the Minnesota trees. The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources will launch a new Eagle Cam this Thursday.

The new Eagle Cam is located at the nest of a new breeding pair, and was installed after the Minnesota Department of Natural resources searched for an ideal spot. It will launch this Thursday, November 21st, and you'll be able to watch it here.

The original Eagle Cam will also go live again on Thursday. Like last year, it remains in the territory of the previously featured pair, rotating through various views of their habitat where they can still be seen visiting occasionally.

The Minnesota DNR is aware that the previous eagle pair built a new nest near this territory and did raise two chicks in 2024. They explored the possibility of installing a camera at their new nest location but reaching that nest with electricity just wasn't possible.

The eagles featured in the original Eagle Cam lost their nest when it toppled to the ground in April of 2023, likely due to heavy wind and snowfall. When the nest fell, the pair lost a nesting chick.

The two cameras help bring awareness to the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources Nongame Wildlife Program. This is the program that helped to bring the bald eagle, trumpeter swan, peregrine falcon and other endangered species back from the verge of extinction.

With the support of generous donations from Minnesotans, the Nongame Wildlife Program continues to lead conservation for the future of Minnesota's rare and vulnerable wildlife.
