A video tutorial detailing how to renew your South Dakota driver's license from the comfort of your home is now available online on the Department of Public Safety’s website.

How to Renew

Applying online is done through a secure website. Users may log in or create an account at SD.gov. That account will also allow users to apply for and renew hunting and fishing licenses, reserve campground space, and access other state features without creating multiple logins. The system provides the user with a single-source login for all those services.

What You Need

When renewing your driver's license, you may be required to scan or upload certain documents during the application process. If a scanner is not available, a quality photo taken with your phone may be used. All the necessary forms are also available on the website.
