Sioux City, Iowa Company in Big Trouble After Children Found Working
An Iowa pork-producing plant is in big trouble. Seaboard Triumph Foods’ pork processing plant in Sioux City, Iowa was the target of a federal investigation after 11 children were found working dangerous overnight shifts handling corrosive materials.
This is in clear violation of child labor laws in the United States. And this should not have gotten to this point as Seaboard Triumph Foods apparently has a history of troubling child labor issues.

According to CBS News, 11 kids allegedly used corrosive cleaners to sanitize head splitters, jaw pullers, bandsaws, neck clippers, and other equipment at the Seaboard Triumph Foods facility from 2019 through 2023.
Department of Labor announced in a press release that the children were employed by Qvest, a sanitation contractor based out of Oklahoma. Qvest has been fined $171,919 in penalties and fines so far. After Seaboard parted ways with Qvest, they contracted Fayette Janitorial Services who allegedly re-hired some of the children.
This is an ongoing investigation as the Department of Labor has at least 13 other meat-processing plants in 8 states in its investigative crosshairs.
