One of the pioneers of heavy metal is coming to Sioux Falls in 2024.

Rock and Roll Hall of Famers Judas Priest is bringing their Invincible Shield tour to the Denny Sanford PREMIER Center, Sunday, September 22. Swedish heavy metal band Sabaton will open the show.

Judas Priest got its start in 1969 in Birmingham, England, but found their voice (literally) in late 1973 when lead singer Rob Halford left the band Hiroshima to join the group. He, alongside guitarists 'KK' Downing and Glenn Tipton, plus bassist Ian Hill, formed the nucleus of that group that would define what became known as 'Heavy Metal'.

Judas Priest broke through in America in the early 1980's with their sixth studio album, British Steel, which sold a million copies and kicked off a run of seven straight Top 40 albums on the Billboard 200.

Their biggest single, 'You've Got Another Thing Coming', came from the band's 1982 album, Screaming For Vengeance. The song peaked at number-four on the Billboard Rock Chart.

The current tour is in support of their latest album, Invincible Shield, which was released back in March of this year.

The band was inducted into the Rock and Roll Gall of Fame in 2022.

Halford, Tipton, and Hill are still touring with the band. Downing retired in 2011.
