For almost a year, the giant retail chain Macy's has been on the record with plans to close 150 of what they are calling 'underproductive stores'.

We now know the locations of the first 66 stores that will cease operation in 2025.

In a press release, Macy's revealed that four states will bear the brunt of the closings with nine stores shuttering in both California and New York, seven in Florida, and six in Texas.

Two Minnesota stores are on the Tri-State Area closing list.

The Maplewood Mall and Burnsville Center locations will shut down by year's end.

The closures will leave the North Star State with nine stores:

  • Bloomington
  • Edina (3)
  • Minnetonka
  • Rochester
  • Roseville (2)
  • Saint Cloud

The only other Macy's location in the Tri-State Area is the Sioux Falls store at the Empire Mall. It was not included in the list of 66.
