The South Dakota Game, Fish, & Parks (SDGFP) is hosting the annual open house weekend to showcase some of the awesome fishing in the Rushmore State. Open House Weekend coincides with Free Fishing Weekend so fishing is permitted without a license required.

After the free fishing weekend, a license is required through the SDGFP to fish South Dakota lakes and you can get them online here.

Not into worms and tangled lines? Fishing just not your thing? South Dakota is also hosting free entrance to all state parks this weekend. Do a little searching online for the state park you plan to visit and chances are there are special family activities for the weekend of May 19 - 21.
