Schools in Rock Valley are trying to get their facilities back together before classes start. But the Rock Valley Community Schools are not working alone. Students and volunteers across Iowa have been traveling to Rock Valley to help clean up classrooms and schools before a new school year begins.

Rock Valley Community Schools posted a powerful Facebook video of students cleaning around a school. Their recovery efforts are part of the reason why small towns like Rock Valley are so strong and resilient.

It's amazing to see students tearing rugs, throwing out desks and chairs, and removing excess water from inside the school. These Iowa students did a lot of work and this did not go unnoticed by the community of Rock Valley.

In an upbeat Facebook message from the Rock Valley Superintendent Matt Van Voorst, he truly appreciates the support and volunteers who have spent time cleaning classrooms after the floods. There's still a lot of work to be done, but they are heading in the right direction.

We are continuously making plans for the upcoming school year, including all the extra- and co-curricular activities our students expect and deserve. “Kids First” remains our motto during these tough times. We do not yet know what this upcoming school year will look like, but we are still Rocket and Nighthawk Proud—and we will work diligently to provide an excellent educational experience to our students.

It's amazing to see towns across Iowa come together to help Rock Valley. They are stronger together!
