Sad News: Local Sioux Falls Italian Eatery Abruptly Closes

Several Sioux Falls restaurants have closed their doors permanently in the last couple of weeks. Now there is another well-known pizzeria and Italian eatery saying goodbye to the Sioux Empire.

Bella Cucina Italian Ristorante shocks Sioux Falls and closes its doors late last week. This restaurant took over the former Pizza di Paolo location on South Minnesota Avenue in Suite B towards downtown.

This is bittersweet for owner Chef Don Napolitano. He was continuing his brother's legacy. Chef Don's brother was the original owner of Pizza di Paolo. Don even helped his brother run the business until his passing.

Chef Don shared his passion for the restaurant industry in Sioux Falls and his new Italian cookbook. This cookbook gives you a little glimpse of the food that Chef Don is capable of creating. He also gives some fun facts about himself and his career. For example, Chef Don has "written eight books, produced a movie, and advised many companies on how to fix their problems.

So why the sudden closure of Bella Cucina Italian Ristorante? There were several reasons behind this difficult decision. There were financial struggles and workforce issues beyond Chef Don's control including some employees heading off to school in the fall.

A sign on the door of Bella Cucina Italian Ristorante confirms the closure. The website also shows that it's no longer active. Loyal Sioux Falls customers are sad to see another local spot close. However, they will always have tasty memories of this classic eatery.
