Major Grocer Cuts Prices on 1/3 of South Dakota Goods
If your grocery bill has been giving you sticker shock lately, some temporary relief has arrived. We've all been feeling the pinch at the checkout lane, but one major grocery chain with six locations across South Dakota is stepping up to give our wallets a break.
Aldi has officially rolled back prices on one-third of its entire inventory to help shoppers stretch their budgets over the next month.

When you hear about a major chain slashing prices, the first question is always whether it actually applies to the things you buy. For this huge fall price rollback, the answer is a resounding yes. These aren't just some specialty goods getting a markdown. This price cut hits nearly one-third of the entire store's everyday inventory. South Dakotans will see immediate relief on staple items they buy every single week, including lean proteins, fresh seasonal produce, beef, and coffee. These price cuts are already in place and will last through at least November 3, keeping those everyday costs lower throughout the heart of the fall.
To understand why this is a bigger deal than a standard weekly flyer, you have to look behind the scenes of the Grocery Chain business. It is a common misconception that grocery stores rake in gigantic profits on every item sold. In reality, the grocery industry (especially Aldi) operates on razor-thin profit margins that generally hover between 1 percent and 3 percent. When a retailer decides to temporarily slash prices on roughly a third of all products on its shelves, they are making a significant financial move that cuts directly into their own bottom line. In fact, this specific fall price drop is projected to save shoppers an estimated $86 million nationwide. So, think of this as one of those rare instances of a major retailer taking a huge financial hit just to give household budgets some much-needed breathing room.
You can visit Aldi at any of its six South Dakota locations, including Sioux Falls, Brookings, and Aberdeen.
