As of May 22, 2022, there were over 108,000 cities in the U.S.! That is a lot of cities where people could and do get married. But what makes a city a "best place" to get married?

For an answer to that question, we'll once again turn to those scientific, number crunchers at Wallet Hub. They compared 182 of the largest U.S. cities in three major categories to come up with their findings.

The 3 categories are:

  1. Costs
  2. Facilities & Services
  3. Activities & Attractions

In the Cost category they looked at average wedding costs, price of hotel rooms and wedding meals, as well as wedding venues.

Under Facilities & services, they examined a number of wedding must haves available per capita. For example -

  • Wedding churches or chapels
  • Party equipment rentals
  • Bridal shops
  • Musicians and DJs
  • Flower and gift shops
  • Limousine rentals
  • Catering companies
  • Cake shops/bakeries

For Activities and attractions they considered things like -

  • Weather
  • Popularity of city as a travel destination
  • Foodie-friendliness
  • Amusement and entertainment
  • Number of Attractions

Out of 182 cities, Sioux Falls came in at 107th best place to get married. Which is pretty good, all things considered.

But the top 5 cities to get married in are:

  1. Orlando, Florida
  2. Las Vegas, Nevada
  3. Tulsa, Oklahoma
  4. Tampa, Florida
  5. Atlanta, Georgia

People Say They Hate These 7 Things About Sioux Falls the Most

In the last few years, I've had the opportunity to live in another state after living in Sioux Falls for a decade. Then late last year I moved back to the SooFoo, and I am super happy to have returned.

Sioux Falls has just about everything I like. It's big enough to have lots of opportunities for work and recreation.

Being on the western edge of the 'Midwest' and the eastern edge of the 'Western Frontier' we've got a nice balance of the individualistic pioneer spirit and a strong urban 'We're in this together' attitude.

But, of course, not everything is perfect. People have complaints. On the social-network Reddit, people have even listed their complaints about Sioux Falls. Specifically, the things that hate about living here.
