Hartford Block Party Celebrates Two Big Milestones

Hartford may be a small community, but they certainly know how to throw a big celebration. They just had their Jamboree Days, and now they are cooking up something huge for July.

Not only will they mark the 250th anniversary of the U.S., but they will also celebrate the 130th anniversary of the city of Hartford! It is guaranteed to be memorable with everything they have planned for this huge, dual-themed block party.

You'll find all of this activity going on in Downtown Hartford from 6 to 9 PM on Friday, July 17. First of all, the West Central Band will open the Block Party with the Star Spangled Banner at 6 PM, and the American Legion will present the colors.

Then the evening starts gearing up with a free hot dog meal for the first 500 people. Party Train USA will be there giving rides to kids from 6 to 8 PM, and Color Bee Face Painting will also be adding color to the event.

This year, there will be an expanded lineup of local vendors, food, and activities, including the 50/50 Raffle for prizes, courtesy of the City of Hartford.

As I was slicing a piece of cheese off my block of Dimock Dairy Colby cheese and boiling a ring of Bluebird Locker German sausage on the stove, I started thinking, "What foods is South Dakota known for?'
