Some kitty cats here in the Sioux Empire are getting new homes thanks to the help of a global charity.

Greater Good Charities is helping to give shelter cats from Spencer, Iowa a new lease on life.

Dakota News Now reports that the charity is flying the felines to shelters in Boise, Idaho, and Portland, Oregon. Both shelters have a need for adoptable pets right now.

According to Dakota News Now, up to this point, the cats had been in the care of People for Pets and their partner the Humane Society of Northwest Iowa before being transported to the new locations.

Liz Baker, CEO of Greater Good Charities told Dakota News Now, “Greater Good Charities has been supporting local communities in the Spencer area since the catastrophic flooding began last summer, and we remain committed to their long recovery journey.”

Once the cats from Spencer arrive at their new destinations in Idaho and Oregon, they will be taken to the Idaho Humane Society and Oregon Humane Society receiving shelters where they will await their new forever homes.

The cats will be evaluated by a team of veterinarians upon their arrival, and receive any follow-up medical care that might be required.

Each day Greater Good Charities works to help people, pets, and the planet by mobilizing in response to need and amplifying the good. To date, they have invested over $750 million in cash grants, in-kind supplies, and direct programmatic support.
