There are certain shows you just have to watch when Halloween comes around. Maybe you're a big Michael Meyers fan and can't wait for the new 'Halloween' movie that comes out today. Perhaps you love the Sanderson sisters of 'Hocus Pocus'. But if you are of a certain age, no holiday special conveys the innocence and childhood fun of Halloween quite like 'It's The Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown.' But unfortunately for fans, the special will not be airing on traditional broadcast TV this year.

Now before you utter the loudest 'good grief' ever, the beloved Halloween special will still be available to watch for free. WQAD reports that Apple TV+ has been the home of Charlie Brown and the Peanuts gang since 2020. That year, there was no 'Great Pumpkin' special aired on broadcast TV. Apple did end up teaming with PBS stations to air the Peanuts Thanksgiving special and the Christmas special. WQAD reports that last year, all three Peanuts specials aired on PBS stations. But that won't be happening this year.

WQAD reports that PBS does not have the rights to air any of the Charlie Brown specials this year and that you'll need Apple TV+ to do so. But, if you don't want to pay for a subscription to the Apple service, you'll still be able to watch all three specials for free during certain dates.

  • 'It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown' will be available for free between October 28th - 31st.
  • 'A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving' will air for free between November 23rd - 27th
  • 'A Charlie Brown Christmas' will air for free between December 22nd - 25th

Remember, even if you want to watch for free, you'll still need to download the Apple TV+ app on your smart device or TV.
