Weather-related destruction has been seen by South Dakotans this year. Now Governor Kristi Noem has sent President Donald Trump her request for federal assistance. Again.

In September cities in eastern and southeastern South Dakota suffered a loss due to tornados and flooding. Those cities include Sioux Falls, Madison, and Mitchell.

The Governor's request is for $17 million. The storms caused many residents to be evacuated. Several roads and bridges sustained damage due to flooding. $8 million in individual assistance and $8.8 million public assistance.

According to the governor, there are many roads through the damaged area that are still closed.
